We're seeking a Senior Performance Test Engineer to join a leading New Zealand technology consulting and quality engineering organisation known for helping clients deliver high-quality technology solutions across enterprise and government environments.
This is not a traditional internal testing role. You'll be working directly with clients, solving complex performance challenges, leading technical conversations, and helping organisations build confidence in their critical systems.
The opportunity:
You'll join a highly respected consulting team delivering performance engineering expertise across multiple client engagements. Working with enterprise-scale platforms and programmes, you'll provide technical leadership while helping clients understand, improve, and optimise system performance.
We're looking for someone who combines deep technical capability with strong communication skills and a genuine consulting mindset.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading performance testing and engineering activities across client engagements
- Designing and implementing performance testing frameworks and strategies
- Analysing system performance, bottlenecks, scalability, and reliability
- Providing technical consultancy and guidance to clients
- Working across multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
- Supporting pre-sales and solution design activities
- Mentoring and coaching other testing professionals
- Evaluating and implementing new tools, technologies, and approaches
- Acting as a trusted advisor to both technical and business stakeholders
- 5+ years' experience in performance testing, test engineering, or technical testing
- Strong experience with performance testing tools such as:
- LoadRunner
- JMeter
- NeoLoad
- Strong scripting and automation capability
- Experience analysing complex application and infrastructure performance
- Ability to confidently engage with architects, developers, engineers, and business stakeholders
- Strong consulting and client-facing communication skills
- Experience working across Agile and Waterfall delivery environments
- Database and SQL skills
- Ability to work independently and deliver outcomes with minimal supervision
- Enterprise-scale performance engineering experience
- Experience across cloud and modern digital platforms
- Exposure to CI/CD, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Git, or similar tooling
- Experience mentoring testers and lifting capability within teams
- Previous consulting or professional services experience
- Work alongside highly regarded testing and quality engineering professionals with a diverse portfolio of enterprise clients
